Anker Prime charging station

The CukTech 15 does more than the Anker Prime 100W for half the price. A real-time per-port display, wireless charging, a retractable cable – features Anker doesn’t offer at $110. The Anker wins on raw wattage and brand trust, but that’s about it.

The Screen Changes Everything

I thought the CukTech’s 1.83-inch TFT display was a gimmick. It’s not.

Plug in a MacBook: the screen shows 28V / 3.2A / 89.6W and the protocol (PD 3.1 EPR). Plug in a phone: 9V / 3A / 27W, Xiaomi HyperCharge. Every port, real-time, simultaneously. The Anker Prime 100W has a small LED indicator that shows… that it’s on. Maybe a rough total wattage estimate.

Here’s why this matters beyond nerd satisfaction. I had a USB-C cable that was only pushing 5W to my iPad. Looked fine. Felt fine. The CukTech display caught it in two seconds. Swapped cables, jumped to 30W instantly. Without the screen, I’d have blamed iOS and moved on.

The display also lets you set port priority. Laptop compiling and needs full power? Bump it up, everything else scales down. Done compiling? Release. The Anker has no equivalent.

Charging Performance

The CukTech 15 tops out at 140W on a single USB-C port thanks to PD 3.1 EPR support (28V/5A). The Anker Prime 100W maxes at 100W and doesn’t support EPR. For MacBook Pro 16-inch owners who want full-speed charging, the CukTech wins on raw capability despite costing half as much.

Multi-device charging is where both share the same reality: total wattage is a shared budget. Plug in four devices on the CukTech and the 140W splits between them. Same principle on the Anker’s 100W. The CukTech actually has more headroom here.

I tested both with my daily loadout – MacBook Air (45W), Xiaomi phone (27W), AirPods (5W). The CukTech handled all three at full speed simultaneously. The Anker throttled the phone to about 15W to stay within its 100W budget.

Wireless Charging

The CukTech has a magnetic charging pad (MagSafe-compatible, 15W) on top and a Qi pad (5W) on the front face. The Anker Prime 100W has no wireless charging at all.

For iPhone and AirPods users, this is two fewer cables on your desk. I drop my phone on the magnetic pad when I sit down, toss the AirPods case on the Qi pad. Both charge without plugging in anything. It’s not fast wireless charging, but it’s convenient charging, and that’s what a desk station is for.

No Apple Watch support on the CukTech, though. Apple’s proprietary coil strikes again.

The Retractable Cable

Pull. Click. Charge. Push. Gone.

The CukTech has a built-in retractable USB-C cable with three locking positions (short, medium, full extension at ~0.7m). It maxes at 65W. This single feature eliminated one cable from my desk permanently.

The Anker requires you to bring all your own cables. Not a flaw exactly, but the CukTech’s approach is cleaner.

Build Quality

The Anker Prime has that characteristic Anker build – matte grey, dense, flat form factor. It feels premium. The CukTech is matte black, slightly taller due to the wireless charging surfaces, and feels solid but not as polished. Neither is cheap-feeling. Both are desktop-only weights at 500g+.

The Anker’s flat profile slides under monitors more easily. The CukTech’s taller shape is better as a standalone desk object where you can actually use the wireless pads and see the screen.

Ecosystem and Trust

Anker has years of US market presence, Amazon Prime returns, and reliable warranty support. CukTech (formerly ZMI, the team that designed Xiaomi’s entire power accessory line) is well-known in China but a relative unknown in the West. If something breaks, Anker gives you a straightforward replacement. CukTech means dealing with AliExpress or Taobao.

This is a legitimate factor. The CukTech is a better product on specs and features. The Anker is a safer purchase if warranty matters to you.

Price and Value

$55 vs $110. The CukTech has more total wattage, PD 3.1 support, a per-port display, wireless charging, and a retractable cable. The Anker has… a well-known brand name and easier returns.

Is the Anker 2x better? It’s not even 1x better on features. The CukTech genuinely outspecs it across almost every measurable dimension. The only areas where Anker wins are brand trust and after-sales support – real considerations, but not $55 worth of considerations for most people.

Buy the CukTech 15 If

  • You want the most features per dollar in a desk charger
  • The real-time per-port display appeals to you (it should)
  • You want wireless charging built into your desk station
  • You’re comfortable buying from Chinese marketplaces

Buy the Anker Prime If

  • Warranty and easy returns are non-negotiable
  • You prefer buying from Amazon with Prime shipping
  • You only need wired charging and don’t care about wireless
  • Brand familiarity matters more than feature count

The Bottom Line

The CukTech 15 is what happens when Xiaomi’s power engineering team builds a charger without Western brand markup. More wattage, more features, better display, lower price. The Anker Prime 100W is a solid charger from a trusted brand – but at double the price with fewer features, the value argument doesn’t hold.

If you’re an engineer who reads spec sheets before buying (and you’re reading DeskForged, so you probably are), the CukTech is the obvious pick.
