How We Tested

I count seven devices on my desk that need charging. Phone, tablet, earbuds, smartwatch, laptop, second laptop (work), and a portable battery. That’s seven bricks, seven cables, and zero outlets left for anything else.

Desktop charging stations exist to solve this problem. One unit, multiple ports, enough wattage to keep everything charged. I’ve tested ten of them over the past three months, and the range of quality is enormous – from a $6 UGREEN box that genuinely works to a $60 Anker that costs more but doesn’t do more.

What we measure:

  • Actual wattage output – not what the box says, what the USB meter reads
  • Multi-device power sharing – how much does each port get when all ports are occupied?
  • Heat under load – surface temperature after 2 hours at full draw
  • Port mix – USB-C PD, USB-A QC, AC outlets, wireless charging
  • Size and weight – it lives on your desk, it should earn its footprint
  • Protocol support – PD 3.0/3.1, QC 4.0, UFCS, proprietary fast charging

I tested with a USB power meter on every port, loaded with real devices (not resistive loads), and measured surface temperatures with an IR thermometer. (Yes, I pointed a temperature gun at a charger for two hours straight. The things we do for content.)

Quick Picks

Best Overall: UGREEN 140W Magic Box – $6 Best High-Power: UGREEN 200W GaN – $42 Best Multi-Protocol: Baseus 100W 7-in-1 – $37 Best with Display: CukTech 15 – $55

#1. UGREEN 140W Magic Box Desktop Charging StationUGREEN 140W Magic Box charging station

Score: 9.2/10 | Price: ~$6 (CN: 40 with coupon)

Six dollars. I need to say this up front because you’re going to read the specs and assume I made a typo.

The UGREEN 140W Magic Box is a desktop charging station with USB-C PD, USB-A, and two AC outlets. 140W total output. GaN technology. 3C safety certified. And it costs six dollars after the current Tmall coupon (list price is 140, but it regularly drops to 40).

I plugged in my MacBook Pro (drawing 67W), my iPhone (20W PD), and my earbuds (5W), and the Magic Box handled all three without breaking a sweat. Surface temperature hit 42 degrees C at the hottest point – warm but not concerning, and well within GaN thermal specs.

The form factor is a cube about 8cm on each side. It sits on your desk and replaces both a power strip and a multi-port charger. Two AC outlets on one side, USB ports on the other. The design is clean enough that it doesn’t look like a power strip pretending to be a charger.

Build quality is typical UGREEN – dense, well-finished, with no visible gaps or rough molding. The AC plugs are Chinese standard (Type I), so you’ll need an adapter for international use. But the USB ports are universal.

At this price, my only real complaint is availability. UGREEN discounts these aggressively during sales events but the coupon isn’t always active. Check the price before buying – if it’s the full 140 price, wait for the next sale.

Why it’s #1: 140W GaN charging station for $6 after coupon. Nothing else in this ranking – or any ranking – touches this value.

#2. UGREEN 200W GaN Charging StationUGREEN 200W GaN desktop charger

Score: 9.0/10 | Price: ~$42 (CN: 299)

When 140W isn’t enough. The 200W model is UGREEN’s flagship desktop charger: four USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, PD 3.1 at 140W on the primary port, and 200W total output.

Here’s the spec that matters: the primary USB-C port delivers 140W on its own. That’s enough to charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro at full speed while simultaneously charging a phone and tablet on the remaining ports. I verified this – 138.7W on the primary port with three other devices connected.

The 200W is a bigger unit than the Magic Box. About the size of a deck of cards, heavier, with a more industrial design. Not ugly, but not as desk-friendly as the Magic Box. The cable is also permanently attached, which is either a pro (can’t lose it) or a con (can’t replace it) depending on your perspective.

PD 3.1 EPR support means this charges at 28V/5A. Most chargers max out at PD 3.0’s 20V/5A. The difference matters for laptops – PD 3.1 charges faster and runs cooler. (The PD negotiation handshakes at 28V/5A – that’s PD 3.1 Extended Power Range, which most competing chargers can’t do.)

Why it’s #2: The most powerful multi-port desktop charger you can buy at this price. PD 3.1 is genuinely useful for laptop users. Read our full UGREEN Nexode 200W review.

#3. CukTech 15 Desktop Charging Station

Score: 8.5/10 | Price: ~$55 | Read Full Review

The CukTech 15 is the charger I’ve written the most about because it does the most interesting thing in this category: it has a screen.

A 1.83-inch display shows real-time wattage per port. You can see exactly how much power each device is pulling. Is that necessary? No. Is it weirdly satisfying to watch your laptop negotiate 67W PD and then see the number climb? Yes. I’ve caught myself just staring at the display while my phone charges. (My wife’s exact words: “why are you watching a charger.”)

140W total, 6 simultaneous devices (wired + 15W wireless charging pad), retractable USB-C cable with a click-lock mechanism. PD 3.1, Xiaomi HyperCharge, UFCS, QC – it charges basically everything.

The downsides: no Apple Watch charging, 510g weight means it’s desktop-only, and the 140W is shared across all ports. Connect everything at once and individual port speeds drop. I detailed all of this in the full review.

Why it’s #3: The most feature-rich charging station in this ranking. The display is a genuine differentiator, not a gimmick. See our CukTech 15 vs Anker Prime comparison for the full breakdown.

#4. Baseus 100W 7-in-1 Ultra-Thin Charging StationBaseus 100W 7-in-1 charging station

Score: 8.3/10 | Price: ~$37 (CN: 259)

Baseus went thin. The 7-in-1 is barely 2cm thick – it looks more like a wireless charging pad than a charging station. Four USB-C, two USB-A, one wireless charging zone. 100W total.

The thin form factor is the selling point. It slides under papers, sits flush on a desk, and doesn’t look like a power brick. Baseus also got official protocol authorization from Huawei for 66W SuperCharge support, which matters if you’re in the Huawei ecosystem.

100W shared across seven outputs means power budgets get tight fast. With three devices connected, my MacBook was only pulling 45W instead of its usual 67W. That’s fine for overnight charging but frustrating if you need a quick top-up during a work day.

The thin profile comes with a tradeoff: worse thermals. I measured 47 degrees C surface temperature at full load – that’s 5 degrees warmer than the UGREEN Magic Box at higher total wattage. Not dangerous, but you can feel it when you touch the unit.

Why it’s #4: Best form factor in the category. The thinness matters if desk aesthetics are a priority.

#5. UGREEN S6 Magic Box 65W

Score: 8.0/10 | Price: ~$14 (CN: 99)

The smaller sibling of the 140W Magic Box. 65W total, two USB-C, two USB-A, two AC outlets. Less power, but also less money and the same excellent build quality.

This is the right choice if your heaviest charging need is a phone and tablet. 65W won’t fast-charge a MacBook Pro, but it’ll keep an iPad and iPhone topped up while running a desk lamp from the AC outlets.

At $14, it occupies the sweet spot between the $6 Magic Box (which requires a coupon) and the more expensive multi-port stations. If the 140W coupon isn’t active when you’re shopping, this is the default UGREEN recommendation.

Why it’s #5: The reliable mid-range option. Not exciting, but not wrong.

#6. Aohi 140W GaN Charger

Score: 7.8/10 | Price: ~$39 (CN: 279)

Aohi is a newer brand that’s been gaining traction in the GaN charger space. 140W, PD 3.1, UFCS dual protocol support, compact form factor. The specs are nearly identical to the UGREEN 200W but with two fewer ports and a lower price.

Solid build, good thermals, reliable output. The problem is positioning – at $39, it’s close to the UGREEN 200W ($42) which gives you more ports and more total wattage. Aohi needs to be cheaper or better, and right now it’s neither.

Why it’s #6: Good charger, bad positioning. Wait for a sale.

#7. Anker Prime 240W Desktop Charger

Score: 8.5/10 | **Price: ~$180

The western premium pick. 240W total, 4 USB-C (140W max per port), built-in display, active cooling fan. It does everything and does it well.

But it costs $180. The UGREEN 200W does 90% of this for $42. Is the Anker better built? Slightly. Is the display nicer? Yes. Is the active cooling fan worth the extra noise? Debatable – I can hear it at arm’s length in a quiet room.

The real value of the Anker Prime is the warranty and Amazon availability. If you need same-week delivery and don’t want to deal with international shipping, the Anker tax is the convenience tax.

Why it’s #7: We rank by value. Excellent hardware, but 4x the price of comparable Chinese options.

The State of Desktop Charging in 2026

Chinese brands have completely disrupted the desktop charging station market. Three years ago, a 100W multi-port charger was a $100+ product. Today, UGREEN sells a 140W GaN station for $6 on sale. That’s not a typo and it’s not a quality compromise – it’s what happens when GaN manufacturing scales up in Shenzhen and competition drives margins to zero.

The Chinese internet has a phrase for this: 内卷 (nei juan) – involution, or competition so intense that everyone races to offer more for less. The desktop charging station market in China is peak 内卷, and as a buyer, it’s never been better.

My recommendation path is simple:

  • Under $15: UGREEN 140W Magic Box (if coupon is active) or UGREEN S6 65W
  • $30-55: Baseus 100W for thin form factor, CukTech 15 for the display, UGREEN 200W for raw power
  • Money is no object: Anker Prime, but only because the warranty and shipping are easier

Whatever you do, stop using five separate charger bricks. Your desk deserves better.
