The Brands You’re Missing

If you browse r/battlestations or any Western desk setup community, you’ll see the same brands over and over: BenQ, Dell, Elgato, Anker. Good products, fair enough.

But in China, where desk culture is just as obsessive, engineers and creators use an entirely different set of brands. Products that are often just as good, sometimes better, and almost always cheaper.

Here are five worth knowing about.

1. Yeelight – Screen Light Bars & Smart Lighting

Yeelight Monitor Light Bar Pro

What they make: Screen light bars, desk lamps, smart home lighting

Why they matter: Yeelight is a Xiaomi ecosystem company. Their screen light bar is functionally equivalent to the BenQ ScreenBar at one-third the price. Same asymmetric optics, same USB-C power, solid aluminium build.

Best product: LED Monitor Light Bar (~$18 on Amazon/AliExpress)

The gap: Almost zero English-language reviews. BenQ dominates search results despite Yeelight being a massive brand in Asia.

2. Titan Army – Budget Monitors

Titan Army P275MV Plus gaming monitor

What they make: 4K IPS monitors, gaming monitors, ultrawide displays

Why they matter: They ship the same LG and BOE panels that Dell and LG use, but skip the premium branding, fancy stands, and marketing budget. The result: 4K IPS monitors under $200.

Best product: 27" 4K IPS with USB-C PD (~$180 on AliExpress)

The gap: Literally zero English professional reviews. Search “Titan Army” on YouTube and you’ll find maybe 2-3 videos with a few hundred views.

3. CukTech – Charging Stations & Power

What they make: Desktop charging stations, GaN chargers, power banks

Why they matter: CukTech (previously Zendure sub-brand) makes desktop charging stations that rival Anker and Satechi. Their No.15 desktop charger offers 210W total output with a built-in display showing real-time power draw for each port.

Best product: No.15 Desktop Charging Station (~$45)

The gap: A few Reddit mentions, but no structured reviews. Anker owns the English-language search results for “best charging station.”

4. Songnen – Monitor Arms & Ergonomics

Dual gas spring monitor arm

What they make: Monitor arms, laptop stands, ergonomic accessories

Why they matter: Songnen makes monitor arms using the same gas spring mechanisms as Ergotron and Amazon Basics, at significantly lower prices. Their dual-arm mounts are popular on Taobao with thousands of positive reviews.

Best product: Dual Monitor Gas Spring Arm (~$35 on AliExpress)

The gap: Complete void in English. Ergotron ($150+) and Amazon Basics ($30) own this space in the West.

5. Baseus – Cable Management & Accessories

Baseus magnetic cable organizer clips

What they make: Cable organizers, USB hubs, wireless chargers, car accessories

Why they matter: Baseus is actually becoming known in Western markets, you can find them on Amazon. But their full range on Taobao/AliExpress is much wider and cheaper than what’s listed on Amazon US.

Best product: Magnetic Cable Clips + Under-Desk Cable Tray combo (~$12)

The gap: Baseus has some English presence, but their desk-specific accessories are undercovered.

→ Search “Baseus cable management” on Amazon

Why Does This Gap Exist?

Three reasons:

  1. Language barrier: These brands market in Chinese. Their English product pages are often rough translations with minimal SEO.

  2. Review sample culture: Western tech reviewers get free products from BenQ, Elgato, Anker. Chinese brands don’t have English-language PR teams sending samples.

  3. Trust bias: “Chinese brand” still carries stigma in Western markets, even though most “Western” electronics are manufactured in China anyway.

The Opportunity

If you’re willing to do 15 minutes of research and buy from AliExpress, you can build a desk setup that looks and functions identically to a $1,500 r/battlestations post, for under $400.

That’s what DeskForged is about: bridging this information gap with honest, first-hand reviews.
