Edifier M90: Desktop Speakers Finally Get HDMI eARC
Edifier just shipped the M90, and it fixes the one thing missing from their QR65: HDMI eARC. Plug your TV, console, or laptop dock straight into your desk speakers. No optical cable, no Bluetooth delay, no separate soundbar.

Why HDMI eARC Matters for Desktop Speakers
Three reasons.
HDMI eARC on desktop speakers is rare. The Klipsch The Fives have it at $500+. The Audioengine A2+ doesn’t. Most desktop speakers force you into optical or Bluetooth. The M90 at $370 makes eARC accessible.
Bluetooth 6.0. The QR65 runs BT 5.3. The M90 is the first Edifier desktop speaker with 6.0, which means better range, lower latency, and improved multi-device switching. Still supports LDAC for Hi-Res wireless.
100W vs the QR65’s 70W. Bigger mid-bass drivers (4" vs the QR65’s 2.75"), 30W more total power, and the same 50Hz low-end reach. The M90 is louder and deeper.
What It Doesn’t Have
No built-in GaN charger. The QR65’s 65W USB-C charging was its killer feature for cable-free desk setups. The M90 trades charging for HDMI eARC. Pick your priority.
No RGB lighting either. The QR65’s Infinity Mirror is gone. The M90 is all business.
Our Take
If you use your desk speakers with a TV, monitor with HDMI, or a USB-C dock that outputs HDMI, the M90 is the obvious pick over the QR65. If your setup is purely laptop + phone on a desk, the QR65’s GaN charger is still more useful.
At the same $370 price point, Edifier is making you choose: charging convenience or connectivity flexibility. Both are valid. Neither is wrong.
